A dream and a church

Mother Teresa had a great wish to build an amazing church. She had no money until the very rich postulant entered in 1836 to realise her dream.  On June 16th 1838 Archbishop Murray laid foundation stones. Father O’Rourke said the first Holy Mass. He was Carmelite Priest. On the 1st of May in 1840, devotions were performed for the first time in a church in Ireland. On the 8th 1846 Archbishop Murray dedicated the new church to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This was the first church in Ireland to be dedicated.
